KIBLAT.NET, Jakarta – The Executive Director of the Institute for Policy Studies, M Tri Andika stated that there are different opinions between the cabinet in these two years. Due to this, Jokowi is being judged as lack of credibility in managing the country’s budgeting which results in the increasing of the country’s debt.
“There are three problems in Indonesian economy right now, which include infrastructure expansion, the revocation of subsidies, and the management error”, he said in the discussion which titled as “The increment of Jokowi’s Debt” in Jakarta, on Friday night (09/03/2018).
According to Tri, at the beginning of Jokowi’s position as the president, he is already breaking the promise by revoking the fossil fuels subsidies. In just two months, the fossils fuels subsidies were revoked to put a more productive budget to improve the infrastructure.
“Jokowi’s government always being reckless in the issuance of policies, which sometimes seems like in a hurry. While this is a country’s affairs, not just a city, in which the planning should take much longer time”, he criticized.
He emphasized on the impact of building the infrastructures without a careful planning. The country’s development should not be used for the political image to prolong the leadership, but a good management is much more essential.
“I can see that there is false hope were given, which expected that the infrastructure could improve country’s economy. People were given false hope, whereby it is a fact that the infrastructure was only a modal and did not provide any employment opportunities”, told him.
I believed/noted that the revocation of the subsidies was not to be allocated to the other productive budgets. But the government tried to use the revoked budget to pay country’s debt.
“We can see that there is no improvement in the sector of education and health. Plus, the income from the taxes was not as expected, while the increment of infrastructure modal/capital lead to debts, which results in the usage of a large amount of the state budget/Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Negara (APBN) to pay the debts that already due”, he said.
