KIBLAT.NET – Jakarta, On Friday 14 June 2017, the Ministry of Communication and Information has requested all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to terminate the access [or blocking] to 11 Domain Name Systems (DNS) owned by Telegram.
Telegram’s 11 Domain Name System (DNS) names include t.me, telegram.me, telegram.org, core.telegram.org, desktop.telegram.org, macos.telegram.org, web.telegram.org, venus.web .telegram.org, pluto.web.telegram.org, flora.web.telegram.org, and flora-1.web.telegram.org.
This will obviously bring inaccessibility of the web version of Telegram service [not accessible via computer].
The creator of Telegram, Pavel Durov, immediately commented on the government’s blocking of the instant messaging service After Indonesian netizen @auliafaizahr mention his account.
“It’s strange that we have never received a request/complaint from the Indonesian government, we will investigate and make a statement,” Durov wrote on his Twitter account on Friday (7/14).
On the other hand, the Ministry of Communication and Information explained that the blocking should still be done due to the many channels in telegram’s service that contain propaganda on radicalism, terrorism, hatred, invitation or how to assemble bombs, how to attack, disturbing images and others that are contrary to the laws in Indonesia.
“Currently we are also preparing for the complete closure of Telegram applications in Indonesia if Telegram does not prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for handling unlawful content in their application. This step is done in an effort to maintain the unity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI),” said Director General of Information Applications Semuel A. Pangerapan.
