Jakarta – Kiblat.net – In responding to the increase in hate speech, recent hoaxes, and social media persecutions, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has issued a fatwa on the law and guidance on social media activities.
This fatwa was conveyed by MUI Chairperson Ma’ruf Amin, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communication and Information. The appeal is also directly delivered by Minister of Communications and Information Rudiantara at his office on Monday (6/5).
“This fatwa departs from the concern of the rise of content, which is not only positive but also negative. There is a benefit, but there is also sin,” Kiai Ma’ruf Amin said.
“In addition to its content to the hoax news, antagonism, pornography, and hatred and hostility. This is forbidden by religion, “he continued.
He added that the use of medsos incorrectly will cause danger to islam. Thus, the obligation for Muslims to get rid of such damages.
“The danger must be eliminated. Therefore, the steps we take, then we issue a fatwa about muamalah through social media, “he said.
The fatwa on social media is contained in the Fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council Number 24 of 2017. Named the Law and Guidance of social Through Social Media, the fatwa was passed on 13 May 2017 in Jakarta.
